Almost done now, feature wall stone done, pebbles wash done, not put final later of water proof on the floor then fitting the pump and puping work, wa la..

still fixing the pond here and there small issue and found out the filter section is leaking, the last chamber can only filled with half tank...any quick way to fix the leakage? any paint type of water proof to paint it then it will prevent leak?

Fixing leakage is a pain and certainly not a small issue. If it is confirmed that the leak is in the last chamber, you can try to apply water proofing material there. It should be able to fix the leak but it may reoccur - depending on your luck.

i did a test actually, filled with full water, then i can see i dropping..until half tank..then stop..try to use silicon to patch up but still failed, the issue is how to find exactly where is the leak..like my main pond, manage to dictact the leak, bcos it is very obvious water is drain out to the second pump chamber.. but this cannot find where it is..try one of the method read some where here, use the water color drop..but cannot see it clearly where the water current flow to..so now every day need to put in about 5 mins of fresh water from pipe..

question - any technique to track where is the leaking?
question - what brand of water proof can be use?

I am not sure if I understand how you have done the water leakage testing.

You should have filled up your pond and filter chambers with water - but your pump(s) should NOT be running. If there is a drop in the water level within 24hours, then there is a leak in your pond.

exactly, this is what i done, don even need to wait for 24 hours, the water level go down immediately after i stop the water inflow..stop at half level..

how to trace the leaking hole, this is question which i still searching for answer...

I used to paste masking tape at the water level on the walls in the main pond and in each of the chambers to mark out the water level. After sometime, I observed which chamber or area where the water level dropped and help to narrow where the leak possibly lies.

may be i am not very clear..i already identify the 3rd chamber is leaking, now is i need to narrow down further, which side of wall is leaking? or which spot is leaking?? so that i can apply the the solution (yet to know what is the best) to exactly the spot..

Sorry. I didn't follow your whole string and didn't realilse that you have identified the 3rd chamber. In that case, it is better for you to to treat all walls and the bottom of the chamber to form one unbroken continuous surface area. That way, it is more secure and more guarantee that it would work. Just treating one small area is risky as the area around the newly treated area is potential for future leak.

danny,
may be you can apply water proof paint come with black colour which normally
use by constractor on water proof the bathroom, balcony. may be you can ask your constractor to repair for you.

ya, normally the water proofing paint is black, mine is white color, strange..don know where is the contractor get it from and until now still cannot dry..my pond is veryy sticky now actuyally..

do you have the brand of the water proofing paint?

Hi Danny,

U can try either of the following :-

1) Multi-tek Waterproofing Polymer - available in some hardware shops esp. aroung the Kg. Baru Subang area
One shop is Wing Foong Hardware 03-78471185

2) Greenseal Flexi 201 - a flexible polymer waterproof coating

Both are effective products which can be easily applied to bare cement renderings using a stiff brush to paint over.
Leaks usually occur around the joints in between walls and pond floor. I recommend that U concentrate on these areas
with thicker coats. Don't do a spot or patch area remedy . Coat the whole filter area with as many coats - important to let polymer dry in between.

manage to cal up Sika, now I remember i think my existing one, last time my contractor also use sika brand, white color one, did not manage to write down the model..
this sales person called alex, receomended me sika topseal 107, grey color, said him that need to thoroughly clean up the surface before apply..will go to hard ware shop to check it out see can find this brand..

running around for a few hardware shop, cannot get sika, some show me some funny brand such as daflo etc..ended up i took flexi seal..will try this out tomorrow, first need to clean up the 3rd chamber..

not success after apllying the flexi seal..the water level still drop as it is before, but manage to find out that the bottom 3 corner all leak..strange, the bottom corner is leak why the water level only fall until half only???

Dear DannySao,

It is not unusual for the water level to fall to the half way level of the chamber although the leak is at the bottom corners of the chamber. I have a small concrete tank with a small leak at the bottom corner too and while it leaks, the water level will always be about 10 ins from the bottom. When this level is reached, the water stops leaking.

The reason is because the crack causing the leakage is so small that it needs a certain amount of hydrostatic head (height of the water column) above the crack to force the water to leak out of the chamber. When there is a small leak, the water level will fall to the point where the hydrostatic head is no longer sufficient to force the water through the crack. In your case, it is just below the over-flow pipe level.

If I may suggest, since the chamber is quite small and if there are no other pipe penetrations (other than the over-flow pipe into the chamber), it may be easier to fix the leak with PVC sheet. Just buy a large sheet of thick PVC sheet and fold it to fit inside the chamber. Just do it the same way they use liners to make rectangular tanks. No joint or glue is required and therefore guarantees leak-free repair.

i cannot imagine putting the pvc sheet..the 3rd chamber will have water flow from 2nd chamber..so where is the sheet suppose to stop at? mean it need to stop at least over the 2nd chamber wall...

there is another leak, my feature wall also leak..the top water holder also leak, i put it full..wait for one hour, it go down to half..i have applied the flexi seal for one layer..it is very difficult to apply bcos the size only 5in width..my brush and hand hardly can fit in..but manage to paint the bottom one layer, still leak - so next week may need to buy another flexi seal to paint second layer...not very confident it will solved..as of my 3rd chamber did not work, actually very dissapointed..

spoken to one contract, he need to charge me to fix my problem for 1k, basically put the water proof for main pond, remove the existing one first before put the new water proofing, put cement for 3rd filter floor, remove the overflow, and drill a hole for overflow, fix stone wall leakage, take out and redo the corder one..he said will use ici brand water proof, blank color and need to mix by himself and added sus (glue)..
