Vitamin B12 Tablets for sale
It was very interesting to learn from Bro Yotti about vitamin B12 and i was very keen to try to use it on my fishes. But it was quite difficult to get the injection type and like many hobbyist, i don't really want to be netting all my fishes up to give injections which means i have to sedate them as well. Also, as i'm not familiar with injections, i'm quite afraid of doing it wrongly and injecting it in the wrong place.
You can read bro Yottis use of B12 here http://www.koi.com.my/cgi-bin/koiforum/gforum.cgi?post=111400#111400
So i tried to find other forms of Vitamin B12 and managed to get some from the pharmacy. I managed to find tablets which contains Cyanocobalamin at 50mcg. The injection bro Yotti uses is 1000mcg, so that means, we need to feed about 20 tablets per fish to get the same effect. However, this also depends on the fish's absorption rate of the vitamin.
you can read up more about Vitamin B12 on wikipedia here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B12
Cyanacobalamin acts as a coenzyme for various metabolic functions, including fat and carbohydrate metabolism and protein synthesis. It is necessary for growth, cell replication, hematopoiesis and nucleoprotein and myelin synthesis, largely due to its effects on metabolism of methionine, folic acid and malonic acid.
I and a friend have tried feeding B12 for the past few months and notice that the fishes improve in appetite and strangely the appearance of humps on their shoulders become quite noticeable even for small tosais. We figured that this is due to the protein synthesis action by B12. If protein is not properly absorbed by the body and synthesised, it is then excreted and wasted.
The pharmacies don't carry much as this is not a fast moving drug and they sell it for RM0.10 per tablet. The packing comes in 1000 tablets so that means it will be RM100.00 per bottle if bought from the pharmacy. I have managed to get supplies of B12 in bulk and at a price of only RM40 per bottle for the benefit of all brothers here.
If anyone is interested to try, pls contact me. I feel this is a much safer and less messy way of having our fishes have B12 as compared to injections, especially for new hobbyists. Please also let me know the results once you've tried to see if it works on your fishes.
Hope that helps all brothers here...
