My New Momotaro Nisai Sanke To Share Can't Post

Dear brothers & sisters,

Just acquired this Momotaro sanke just prior to the 9th MKS. What do you guys think about her? Currently she measures at 58cm. Entered her for the MKS but she got nothing, a result I expected considering her other competitors. Anyway, enjoy.

Now I guess just have be patient & wait for shita (emerging/underlying) sumi at point circled A at the tail. Most importantly for the kata (shoulder) sumi (circle B) to appear which I think will change the impression of this sanke.

Bro Deen,

Of course la bro, she is not the current winner but definitely will be the futureWink. This koi is a perfect koi for show. It's not hard to tellSmile. Firstly, I love the skin quality. Good body with good tail tube. Excellent hi pattern and spot on tsubo sumi position. I would prefer if the is no sumi near the tail as the storng tail tube with snow white odome with be a strong area for this koi to show offWinkWink.

As most of sashis are covered with shita sumi, this koi will be very safe from any sashi weakness, if there is anyLaughLaugh. To summarize, this koi has it all. I would rather not to push this koi to grow too fast just to make sure the beni will thicken nicely. With refresh powder effect, I am sure she is going to be the 1st in next year MKS. Great choice bro.

Re: [Shukri Saad] My New Momotaro Nisai Sanke To Share [In reply to] Can't Post

Bro Shukri,

I wasn't a Momotaro fan last time. I thought they look crappy esp during nisai time when their benis look like they're going to disappear and their bodies look like pencil thin even the females. However, as time goes by and me being exposed to more & more high grade Momotaro kois, my appreciation & understanding for their kois increases gradually. Plus me being a Sanke fanatic & Momotaro being one of the best sanke breeders, so you do the maths SlySly. Also I seldom see Momotaro kois with a 'helicopter' body. And their Mako Showa project is already showing wonderful results.

I'm not sure whether you noticed this. If you notice most of the sankes that win top/major prizes in Koi Shows have all three colors at the caudal peduncle area. Let me show you few case in example, pay attention to their caudal peduncle area:

All Japan Koi Show 2010, Superior Champion, Offspring of Big Rose

All Japan Koi Show 2010, Kokugyo 30bu, Kondo Koi Farm

All Japan Koi Show, Kokugyo 25bu, Sakai Fish Farm

Sakai Fish Farm Sanke, Shining Rose, one of the most if not the most expensive nisai during the October 2009 auction.

However I don't think that a sanke must have this to win prizes but I do believe that it is a very desirable trait to have.

Bro Deen,

You may be right on this. It's only my personal preference to have thick snow white at the caudal peduncle for sanke. It could be an elegant point but surely not the only reason why these kois have won the competitionSmile. But with your sanke, either having sumi trait or not, she is going to be a superb sanke. Does this trait give us an indication or hint on the future sumi quality on this koi?

Keep us posted bro.

Hey guys,

Ben Goh stumbled on this sanke's jumbo tosai photo when he was browsing through the koi-bito website. Didn't know she was in Momotaro May 2009 auction heh heh
