Tips to buy Aka Kumonyru Can't Post

Hi! Fellow hobbyists,

Another lobang fr. me. As most of you know, Aka Kumonyu are very rare to come across.
Shiro Kumonryu are more common.
Aka Kumonyru requirement are the same as Shiro Kumonryu, except that the Shiro is replaced by Aka. Size are 15 - 20cm , costing S$30 - 120.

Also I saw Kigoi with RED eyes (red eyes are hard to come by). Size are 15 - 20cm, costing S$30 - 120.

You can get these at Nippon KF. I'd got myself a beautiful Sandan Platinum Kohaku, Kigoi, Aka Kumonyru & Goshiki.
I also saw many good Shiro Utsuri, Kin Matsuba, Kujaku, Aka Matsuba,& many others.
Understand shipment just came in last night.

Rdgs,
Eric

Tips to buy Aka Kumonyru [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok gentlemen
Whatever koi and quality you get, please remember this BIG WORD - QUARANTINE!

Recently I posted about the arrival of tancho which was available from C&B. A no. of the hobbyists gone there to adopt them. Unfortunately, over the last 3 days, my personal mail box was bombed. 100% of them told me that all their koi are sick today. Most of them have reddishness on the dorsal area, pectoral fins and vent fins. One told me that his koi has died of very bad uclers on both side of the body coupled with raised scales and popeye(dropsy) last evening. Some of their fish in the main pond is now flashing....terrible news.

To avoid killing your main stock, use the following formula:
New fish = QUARANTINE is a MUST!

Good luck.

Hello Eric,

I know your post is 2 years old but I would like to know if Aka kumonryu is the same as Beni kumonryu? Is it true that in our waters and temperature, the red will become very dark and therefore will no longer be striking? yours must be quite big now and how did it turn out. Maybe you can post pics of your aka kumonryu and red eye kigoi for us to appreciate. I would love to own a beni/aka kumonryu but dont seem to see them around. Any lobang?

Thanking you in anticipation.

Komonyru got 2 ekor.... Beni Komonyru, last I saw, too expensive lah. They wanted something like RM1200 for 10inch fish.... and I didn't think they were that nice oso. Frown

Hi! Hwong,

As per your enquiry - now hardly see any aka kumonryu. Nippon still comes now & then, but very limited. Tongue

Aka & Beni? If you ask me the difference - beni is a better, more solid red. Aka is more weak. These are easily seen on red koi - Aka muji vs. Benigoi.
Aka muji is a basic koi (orange red)
Beni is solid deeper red. More valuable, of competition standard.

As to my investment - sorry to said as till now, I'd bad experience with red or white Kumonryu (approx. 6 pieces tried). Crazy
My main problem is the sumi - always break up.
Given away. Pirate

No pain, no gain.

Hi Kevin, Eric, I have been away and just got back then straight to forum. "Like 1st to Bata then to school"Wink Thanks for the info. Looks like its dicey investing in a Beni-kumonryu going by Eric's experience. But a nice specimen is really beautiful; at least in the koimags.
