What they have pictured is a much more expensive version of Koi38's simple drum filter (also listed in this part of the forum). They do have to be cleaned, but Koi 38's is easier than this one would be. As to the claim that it will be the only filter you need, everybody selling stuff says that... and I'm still waiting for one of them to turn out to be rightFrown.

Hi Jay,

Its all depends in a lot of things like fish loads, feeding, pond water volume, etc, etc.Smile There lots of DIY biofilters out there that doesn't cost as much as some prefab ones but works twice as good. My advice to you is aks around whos using this type of filter, the size of their pond, fish load, etc. Good luckWink

Just built my own biofilter a few days ago, waiting for it to work and start to clear up my small pond....(i hope it doesPirate)
Today, i'll try to pass by "cartimar" a local petzone...to ask around about UV light, Heard alot of testimonials here that UV really works..
Thanks guys for dropping by at my post!

Hi opsul,

just a suggestion.... instead of buying a UV light, why not try using 'bio-activator'. it can speed up ur biological system faster... dont forget to add more bio media for the bacteria to grow on..

cheers..

Hi kit! hmmmmmm....I was thinking about that . Some pips here are also suggesting that. But I guess I'll go ther UV way since there are alot of pipz here prefer It. But I can still add some bacteria activator to make things better. Bought a UV today, I was happy coz i found a 5watt UV( whew! my electric bill wont cry to much)

hope it works! kudos!!!!!!!!!!!!
