DIY Automatic Feeder, HELP!! Can't Post

I am leaving for college and would greatly benefit from having an automatic feeder. My issue is that I do not desire spending 210 dollars for the koi cafe, nor do I fully understand and find it reasonable to spend 140 dollars on the koi tropical wood lever system (the feeder with the raw hide string that the koi 'pull' when they get hungry in order for pellets to be released). I was wondering if anyone had ever built their own effect automatic koi feeder for a reasonable price that holds a descent amount of food. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas if not an actual working product, please share. This could greatly benefir my koi's health and my peace of mind!

Thanks,
John

Hi John,

Sorry mate I can't help you on this one. Just want to share to you that koi can last to weeks or even months without food, specially in colder months. Can't you get a relative or a friend to feed your koi while your gone?

rgds,
Jon

I believe an individual on the message board at www.koivet.com had a bad experience with auto feeders just recently.

If you do intend to have someone feed the koi (and it would be much preferable in case the auto feeder goes nuts), portion the food into little bags for each day :)
