DIY Barrel Leaks

Does anyone have any suggestions for leaks. I made the cutouts in the barell and put the PVC pipe connectors on. I used silicone to seal it though i;m still loosing water. I disconnected the outlets to possibly get a better seal though should i be using any rubber seals or anything like that.
