Helo, the best way and cheapest way is to make all the filter system your self, it is very easy. you must have two typs, one is a mechanical filter , which means this filters things like leaves or objects, and then from there the water goes to a biofilter, this biofilter oftens confuses people, but it is so simple. Here is the idea, water by way of gravity, ( a bottom drain) flows from your pond and thru a plastic box or barrel or trash can that has for example plastic door mats, so these door mats will let the water pass thru, but will stop or collect big objects, then from there the water goes to the bio filter, this is simple a barrel or such that has small plastic pieces of something to which good bacteria can stick to and start to grow a colony, and this colony of bacteria will eat ( clean/filter) the water they eat the koi shit. for the bio filter to work, the water must run 24/7 ALWAYS! And it will take about 8 weeks before enough of a colony has developed to see a difference in water quality. There is more I could tell you, but this is a basic idea!
it is a good idea to take things slow, otherwise you will end up buying things that you will find you dont need!

Hello, Yes this is one of the problems about trickle towers, theyare hard to hide, I would try to hide them with tall plants, which works out good, but may take some time, or behide a waterfall, which is complicated to do sometimes due to space, but I think they will work better than the skippy filter, that is not to say the skippy does not work.
