DIY tank and trickle filter for baby fish Can't Post

I was at the MAKC Koi Show this past weekend, and just needed to get some of these little tiny koi to raise over the winter. That meant I needed to build a tank and filter, too! A trip to wal-mart later, and here is what I came up with:

And the fish, hiding from the camera near the pump:

The large tub is unmodified. The "filter" is made out of a three drawer plastic unit with holes punched through the bottom of each. Water is pumped into the top and trickles through filter padding in the first drawer, and lava rocks in th next two.

It's just a very small scale of the other trickle filters and setups I've seen here. Seems to work perfectly!

Great minds think alikeWink. The filter setup is exactly the same as what I'm using for the aquarium/mini-QT I made for my wifeCool

Hello, looking at the photos, I would suggest more bio material! You have the space! And looking at it from the side, it seems that you bio mat. is underwater, so you need to make more holes so that the water travles over and through. if your matierial is under water , there is less oxygen! The idea is that the bio mat. is always wet and that water is constantle passing through, but it does not have to be underwater!
