i also fed on oily food, namely Saki Hikari and those oily surface will be go through the SS and into the filter, it does accumulate at the SS. I think you problem is the suction of the SS into the filter which is weak hence unable to perform as such and stays at the SS instead. If not much of a maintenance, then let it be as doesnt really matter. How much salt is still in your water? Assuming if u have 0.3, with 30% change twice, its should have been diluted and dont think u will see much foam. Its good if u can do some quick check on your water parameters, ie salt levels, NO2, NO3, Ammonia, and your PH. I used to have the same problem with foam a few months back, i realise it was due to salting but after a couple of water change at about 20%, the foam didnt re appear though i have a HB 80 hp, serving my main pond (remember almost similar size that both Chris and yours). Rgds Hi Vince, You mentioned that the suction of the SS is weak. How do I improve the strength? My thinking is that foam is collected in SS because there is too much protein in the water - thus creating a PS effect. I have to get a salt tester so I have yet to test the salt content for my pond water. One strange observation is that the bubbles varies. Some days the bubble is alot and some days it is very minimal. The strangest thing is on the day when there is alot of bubbles, it disappears during feed time! Therefore, I am not too sure if the bubbles are due to salt, but a few people also reckoned it is due to salt.
