In this age of KHV threats along with all the other more common health problems I would suggest a minimum of 4-6 weeks in 75-80 degree water for new acquisitions. That will give you plenty of time to see if any diseases are present. I would also suggest adding a fish you're not overly fond of to the Q tank as a "Canary" just in case the new Koi is a carrier, but immune to the disease. The Canary koi will become infrected and get sick in quarantine if that should happen to be the case. Better to take a chance with one than to lose them all. A recent acquaintance of mine just lost all of his Koi to KHV because he did not quarantine ONE new fish from a supplier that assured him there were no health problems. Now he has to sterilize his entire pond with massive PP treatments and Chlorine, pump it dry, and let it sit that way until next year when he'll start from scratch with new fish . A friend of his purchased one the same day and placed it in a 1 acre mud pond full of 30" plus fish she's had for years . Now she has NONE left alive and a real nightmare to sterilize it all.
