Koi Pond Vacuum Cleaners Can't Post

My pond is very old.... poorly designed, concrete... Vacuum is a must.. can't have a in- pond, bottom drain unless I tunnel under the pond ... no way!!!
Drain is a 20', over the side of the pond, 2 inch pvc pipe to a 1/4 horse pump....
I plan to insert into the drain line going to the pump, a cut off valve and a 1 inch line connected to a hose with a 'T' pvc end and use it for a vacuum cleaner....Will shout the valuve the pond water will have to enter from the 1inch, pvc vacuum line.
Any ideas as to if it will work.. That I can vacuum dirt,leaves, etc using this type of tool???
Other ideas for portable or perminate vacuum cleaning of a pond?
thanks,
Jim

Re: [jimar1] Koi Pond Vacuum Cleaners [In reply to] Can't Post

Saw a bit on the net describing a Wet/Dry vac situation that works... complete with pics..WOW...had to give it a try!!!

Don't waste your time with; http://www.coopext.colostate.edu/4DMG/Water/sprngpnd.htm

as told by;
By Judy Sedbrook, Colorado Master GardenerSM, Colorado State University Cooperative Extension, Denver County

IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!!!

Or at least for me!!!... Followed her insturction to a 'T' ...Went to Home Depot and purchased a 'RADGID' Wet/Dry vac...Also, tried 2 others!!!! Set up the way she described... It doesn't work and never could work unless modification were made to the vac . . . and that would not be advisable..Have to remove the 'float' ball/etc. which shuts down the flow when the water rises just below the motor... if it continued to rise (removing the float) then the motor would short out and/or cause shock!!!!
All three I tried, basically work the same....
Don't understand why people suggest this stuff when it really doesnt work!!!!
Or suggest the changes that were made to make it work... NOT!!!
