Raccons keep getting my koi!!! Can't Post
Raccoons keep eating my priceless koi. What do i do that wont cost so much money?
my pond is about 20 inches deep. my pond liner is about 8 x 10. if there is a way to make the pond less wide and less long and more deep can you please tell me how. right now my pond is 8 x 8 x 1.5 . I had huge koi in the pond and now they are all dead. i have 2 kois at my moms in an awuarium and refuse to put them in my pond until raccoons cant get my koi.

Does any one have any idea how to keep the raccoons away? ive tried the scarecrow sprinkler but that does not work for me. what should i do??
ive lost over 500 dollars in koi all together! and i dont want to loose anymore.

hey there eric what i used is like some kind of pepper stuff around my pond...i got it at lowes and i think its called criter-rider not sure but its a lowes the hardware place not grocery... lol just dont get it in your pond.. it keeps raccons dogs cats and a lot more animals away. maybe that helps

Eric, sorry to hear abt your losses. I've heard of many ways to discourage predators. Depending on the type of predator, the method is different. Some are really dangerous but very effective against racoons, like the electric fence. Water is unlikely to scare them away. I don't know whether the powdered repellent mentioned is going to work but it does seem like the cheapest alternative at the moment. If things really get bad, and you don't want to deepen the pond, you may have no choice but to go for the electric fence. hey dr. tan! actually i really did find that pepper grainual stuff to work! it works up to a month and i havnt had an animal take any fish since a year ago it seems the pepper stuff trained the raccons not to come near... but not sure, like you were saying an electric fence would be easier to trust! good luck eric!
