Where to get barrel drums 4 DIY filter Can't Post

Hi,

I live in England and would like to know where to get a couple of plastic barrel drums for making a DIY filter? B & Q doesn't sell them...

Any ideas?

Cheers...

I'm from Australia. I've looked under "drum recycler" and "tanks" to find them. Also "plastic manufacturers'.

The drum recyclers are always cheaper. Ask for "food grade" drums.

Hi,
In Malaysia, these kind of drums are found in recycle/second-hand collector shops. However, these drums are used to hole chemical and detergent before and need to be properly cleaned before use.

cheers

Thanks for your help guys... I've had second about building a barrel filter as apparently they require a lot of maintenance. I now plan to build a skippy filter... have a look at http://www.skippysstuff.com/biofiltr.htm...

Now I need a 150 gallon rubbermaid stock tank to make this filter and I can't find it anywhere... though thanks for the search terms - I'll try them out now and see if I can find one on the web...

Do you have an opinion on the barrel vs skippy filter design??? I already have a filter on my pond it just isn't big enough and only filters my entire water volume every 3.5 hours. Consequently this one will have a seperate pump and in conjunction with the existing unit cycle the pond volume every 1.45 hours.

I'd be glad to hear any suggestions?

yes cheers for the reply koifishgirl but can't get hold of Rubber Maid Trash Cans my side of the pond (no pun intended). I wanted one to build a skippy filter and did a fair bit of research but can't find them anywhere.

I have a large (4ft) holding tank that I now plan to use and have designed my own plans...

Thanks again
