You can try feeding them untill they come out or try hand feeding them then when they come up net them.

Hi,
If the fish is not eating and/or at the bottom of the pond, it can be a challenge. Do you have one of those nets with a telescoping pole? I know that to top it off, you also have an algae bloom. When I had the same situation, it took a very long time to catch the fish, but I was able to do so by cornering it in a corner and then using the net.

I am going to take my net that i cover the pond with in the winter and run it along the bottom of the pond. I will end up catching all my fish but i think that is going to be the only thing i can do my pond is round i will never catch a single fish. got some help at work good idea i think.

Hi, normally an experienced koi handler would not use a net all the way because lifting the fish while it is thrashing may cause damage, but a small koi is OK. If your koi is a large one I suggest that you get the fish into the net and gently guide it towards you, then using both bare hands secure the fish, head towards you, and lift it up - warning this can be quite tricky if you are not used to this. Another way is to guide the fish in the net into a container (container already in pond) then lift up the container with fish+net+enough water. I normally use a sock net to do this and never a scoop net. Hope this is useful.

So did you ever get the sick fish into your quarantine tank?

If not, the way I catch my fish is by first having a big enough net. Getting them into the net might be tricky, but I have noticed that fish run away from white nets cause they can see them easier. Try using a not so fine, dark green, net. Then keep it in the net, in the water. Then get a big enough bucket and scoop up the fish with the net. That way there isn't as much stress on the fish. Workes perfect for me.

Im not the best at post so if you need more help we can chat on Aim or Yahoo: My name on both is KEYLINK56 Wink
