new koi dead....WHY? Can't Post

I have a kidney shaped concrete pond that is about 4ft deep and 5ft wide. I filled it up with water and put 5 koi into it. Within 5 hours all of them were either swimming sideways or lying on the bottom. What did I do?

Did you put anti-chlorine solution into your water?

as a rule of thumb, it usually takes chlorine 3 days to dissipate. chlorine will kill any living organism including your fishes.

You need to put in Anti-chlorine solution into your pond water. Our piped-in water contains chlorine which kills mosquitoes in the water and probably kills your koi(s) too.

Frown How old is the cement? Is it sealed? cement leaches out lime and other bad things.

from what it looks like, you overdosed your pond with algaecide agent, remember, its always better to under-dose than over-dose. make sure you know the EXACT gal/lit of your pond before adding any solution, also, before you put any chemicals in the pond, make sure you dilute it with pond water first, so it doesnt go into the pond concentrated. anyway, dont use any algaecide chemicals, they will only kill or damage your fishes, hope this helps...
