Smile I plan on building some mud ponds to raise koi If I dont use a liner is their anything I can put in the pond to help with sepage I will be using well to fill ponds I do not have a natural scorce of water.

alot of people around my area use clay. the clay is so dense that it really slows the seepage. Ive only seen this for cattle watering though and they do get low in the summer. We have quite alot of rain around here so it works for the ranchers. They usually put on a foot or two of the dense clay than get it wet and slime it around with a trowel than fill er up. It donsent sound like its gonna make a good koi pond though. usually clay is very acidic. but who knows im not one to knock an idea. good luck!!!

Hi where do you live texas? we have mud ponds that are spring feed here and the common carp does good , since they do ok koi carp should do well also. Is i am wrong where do you think I could get some info on this project?

the reason people use clay in there liners, is if a big root punctures a hole in the clay, the clay will mend itself back to gether, and then the owner can remove the twig. most people should use liner and clay, clay on the bottom and then liner

you would see alot more of that if i lived in texas:P. lol im a california boy. north of sanfransisco bout 5 hours drive. Humboldt nation. hey I found a site that might be of intrest. also for the 21 acre pit person 2. Its a consultant company. they do seem to have some info on the subject but you m ight just pop them an email if you dont see your answers there. http://www.aquahabitat.com/ hope I helped. It was a pretty easy google search though. Id go searchin and surfin the net.
