Hi all, I'm a new member and was wondering maybe some of you could tell me in short on your spring or fall cleaning .....I remove my fish and plants and get in and give the botton a good cleaning.......eight yrs. straight now , never lost a koi . Is there an easier way ? Do these vacumes work ? Thanks

Re: [koiboy61] spring cleaning [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi, i just bought a pond vac 3 from oasas. It works really well around the side walls, getting leaves and any other debrie including algae. I have quite a bit of yuck at the bottom of my pond which is over three feet deep in most places. It will work, but it also takes in quite a bit of water. I did not stick with trying to get the bottom of the pond completely clean. It was just too time consuming. These vacs are very expensive and i am glad to have it. I used it for the first time this spring. I'm not totally impressed, but I am somewhat impressed. cuda

Once I tried too hard to control things in the pond....the frogs left.

yea i have the same problem. I wish id installed a bottom drain then the problem would have been reduced. Pond vacs are good from what iv heard- i just clean myne out every year. If you have a good koi dealer nearby some rent out their vacs for a day or so. MAy work out cheaper than buying your own?? just a thought.
