My last purchase was in Oct 07... 2 15cm tosai kohaku that's about 47-48cm now. -Dennis Hi Dennis, thanks for the advice. My pond depth is constraint by an underground sewage pipe. Thus 2.5' deep was the max I could go. Wow, I am impressed that your kohaku could grow by 1' within 7 months! I notice that kohaku tends to grow faster than other types like Ogon. Is this generally true? Hi Epal, AFAIK, kohaku generally do not grow as fast as uni-coloured koi (Benigoi, Ogon etc... not to mention Chagoi). Metallic and doitsu are even slower. I've had an Izumiya Ogon, a 50cm nisai kept at a dealer's big pond that sprung to 77cm in less than a year. Unfortunately, there was a outbreak of disease at the dealer's premises which took some beauties to koi heaven, including my Ogon . Koi's growth generally slows in its 2nd to 3rd year, so my Ogon's growth rate during that time was quite extraordinary. Also. my Chagoi bought less than 30cm hit 80cm in its 3rd year in my small pond. I'm expecting the 2 young kohaku to reach 60cm by Oct 08, probably 70cm+ Oct 09, and just may reach 80cm by Oct 10... if not, defnitely sometime in 2011. I know of a local hobbyist whose Rainbow offspring bought at 55cm (nisai) hit 80cm as a sansai . Cheers, Dennis
