A bridge over water (stained) Can't Post

Hello all! I currently have a 3000 gallon pond with two 20" Hi Utsuri. I have a 10' bridge of cedar that was stained last summer with a cedar stain. It was just fine for that year, but has begun to fade. I plan on putting a new stain on the bridge (oil based to absorb better into the wood) that matches my cedar sided house and deck as the deck needs to be redone anyways. The stain can be applied safely to the bridge as it can be removed from the pond. Is their a set amount of time that the bridge is safe to place back over the pond and will not be toxic to the kois? If I reapply the stain each year it should not peal and put paint chips into the water (or so I am told).

Regards,
John
