Its simply possible that the canister itself was designed to use Ehiem media, but the canister itself is not from the Ehiem factory itself or has been made with approval with Ehiem.

Hello, remember that alot of companys go to another company! Example, one company is only dedicated to plastic things! What you use them for is not important! And the FILTER company will go to plastic company and make an order for a few hundred, they get a good bulk prices and then they put their own label on the plastic canister ! It would be to expensive for a company to buy all the machinery to just produce a few size canisters in plastic! That is not their business, their business is to sell everything about ponds! Like cars, the tires are made by one company,the radio, by another and yet its called a toyota!
