How to catch a koi Can't Post
Hi All:
Here is a story for you all,the other day,i noticed one of my baby koi had what looked like fungus on its top fin,so i deciced i would catch the baby koi instead of treating the whole of the pond,and give him a dip in some anti fungus, as i have 22 koi ,19 of them being babys,2-3 inch long i know this would not be easy,so i called the misses gave her one net and i had the other net,after about half an hour of chasing this baby koi around the pond i decided to give up and try again later when the fish had settled down,anyway about hour later i decided to feed my fish,being very tame and hand feed,that baby koi i had been trying to catch all morning suddenly swam straight into the palm of my hand,i lifted him straight up and into the container that i had made ready for him earlier.
So hand feeding your fish has many advantages,and yes the baby koi is fine now.

Just letting them some in is a better solution....chasing it for 1/2 our will give it lots of stress....

netting takes stratagie...just chasing it is no good....i recall one time at a pet store with a koi pond.....some guy was buying 3 incher koi....him and the store person just wacked at the water and casted the nets wildly....took tem about 20 mins to catch 9....I felt really sorry for the baby fish....

I think to successfully net a koi....you gotta lure it.....it's a mental test....

tick it into thinking there's no way out...and minipulate the direction you want it to swim in....once it make the move....gently move the net in to slowly get them....works everytime!!Tongue

Hello, I would like to give another point of view, I used to like that my koi would eat out of my hand, but I have moved to a new area where the ANIMALS ( people) like to steal, so I figured it is better that my koi dont come up to me to much. I figure as hard as they are to catch, the more likely any low life will have a hard time to catch them! This is sad, but there are still people how have not evolved from the animalistic nature of TAKING!
