Pond water testing? Can't Post

Hi-

I'm new both to the forum and to water gardening. My 13 yr old son and I just built a small pond - 240 gals and about 20" deep. We have three small koi and a few goldfish. Plants are coming along but coverage is not yet where it should be.

I'm wondering what sort of water quality testing I should be doing and how often. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks - JAY

Hi Jay,..

1. ammonia tester, test bfore feeding, usually in the am or pm.. once daily shud b ok.
2. nitrite tester, same as ammonia tester..
3. pH tester, test once in the am and another one in the pm, just to check if they stable or not.
4. temperature check, same as wat u doing to pH tester
5. dissolve oxygen tester, usually associated with temperature, koi need 6ppm DO to b on the safe side.

these r the simple tester, some more complicated one but i think theres no need to test them.. yet..

good luck
