Unable to calm Koi down Can't Post

Dear koi lovers,

I lately got some new kois, they are young at around 10 to 12 cm long, but together they join my adult koi about 20cm in size in panic when i approach the pond to feed them.

Most of them will hit against the pond side wall, and refuse to calm down untill i go off.
Is it natural for young kois?

Regards
Spark

Hi there,

Not really.. They just feel insecure. May I ask how deep is your pond? Shallow ponds will have these effects on fishes. I mix baby kois with the adults in my pond, they compete with them for food almost immediately when I release them in. My pond is slightly deeper than 5'.
Good luck!

Regards..
