flow rate Can't Post

can i know whats the meaning of flow rate , and i see quite a few of the members talking about this >> three times the volume per hour , per hour , per hour , etc . . .

what does that mean ?!?!?

can anyone pls help ? im new here and my fishcabulary is bad . . .

Flow rate is quite simple it is the amount of water which travels around our ponds. Some filters have maximum flow rates- for example a filter may have a flow rate of 10,000 litres- if the pump is capable of 12000litres per hour, the filter will overflow as there is more water coming into the filter than what can be let out with the current outlet.
Experienced koi keepers try to have the whole volume of their pond circulated within 1-3 hours. If the pond is 20,000 litres then they need a pump capable of a flow rate of 20,000 litres per hour if they want to circulate the entire contents of their pond in 1 hour.

Hi segala

From my reading, the rule of thumb is to have the water cycle 2 times per hour.

Say ur total volume of water is 2000 litres so the pump should have flow rate at least 4000 litres per hour.
