Otter attack - awful. Had not lost a koi to a predator since I built my new pool 7 years ago (7 feet deep with steep sides)...until last week. The otter ripped up every single koi. The only koi remaining was the badly damaged "Queen," a beautiful 24" Tancho. The otter bit off her entire tail, ripped out her left fin and most of her right. It is so sad. We are going to give her a chance and do what we can...but I have my doubts. Anyway, I am installing a substantial electric fence. Just wondering if anyone needs to downsize the number of their quality Koi. If you live in Washington or Oregon let me know, I'll pick them up. My kids are still in shock - I am too! They'll have a good home: the pool is 3400 gallons with a 800 gallon filter, UV filter, twin pumps, fountain, skimmer and main drain. (Toddwulf@comcast.net.) Thanks!
