Dainichi Showa Tosai, Comments Please Can't Post

I've been telling myself not to buy any fish anymore until I build myself a new pond (pond overcrowded). But I stumbled on this showa last weekend, and it was love at 1st sight. Didn't acquire her then, but I can't seem to get her off my mind the whole weekend. So just now I went to the koi dealer & purchased her. Here's some pictures I took of her just now. She reached our shores about 2 months ago, she's grown 3 or 4cms since & putting on some volume as well. So you guys know the drill, comments please Wink. Merits & demerits.

I'm very happy with the purchase but I went home with mixed feelings. The dealer informed me that Wakashoryu (the legendary Sakai Hiroshima sanke) is no longer with us. Is this true? Has Wakashoryu passed on to Koi heaven?

Third point, any of you have any idea where I can find good quality Ki Utsuri in Kuala Lumpur? Been looking for a good specimen for the past 6 months. Seen a few, but most of them that I stumble upon have poor body structure & poor skin quality (no sheen & lustre).

Oh one more question, where can I find Refresh powder in KL? Been using Kusuri clay. Is it the same?

Hi Deen,

You can get Refresh powder from Cheras Aquarium. 20-22, Japan Pudu Ulu, 3rd Niles, Cheras, KL. Tel # : 92848696. I think both has the same function. I have tried both, but did not use enough to see major differences bewteen the two. I am trying Onitaiji from Momotaro. Seems to be a lot more convenience as you do not need to mix with water first.

Daniel,

Went to Cheras Aquarium & got myself the Refresh powder. Damn that thing is expensive. Will try it after I'm done with my Kusuri Clay. My current pond is 6 tons plus 1 ton filter. How much Refresh should I put in & how often should I apply it?

How's Onitaiji? Any good results? You got it from Kepong Koi?

Hello Guys,

Another Tosai Dainichi Showa. More or less the same with the previous one. I'm persuading him to buy it but he wants to hear what other forumers think about this showa. He's not a forumer so he asked me to do for him this favor, so help me out guys. Guaranteed female 30 or 31cm, 25cm 2 months ago. Any thoughts on this piece?

Hi Deen,

Yeap.. Refresh is very expensive.. That's why some sifus in this forum actually use Kusuri on a regular basis and Refesh just before competition. Given the price, I am not surprised if Refresh has better effect on koi colour and lusture. I did not use both products long enough to be able to confirm that.. BTW, the usage recommendation for Refresh is 20g for 1 ton of water once a week. Double the dosage for the first 2 weeks of usage.
Yes.. I got Onitaiji from Kepong Koi.. I just started using it (half way thru the 3KG pack). For old and lazy man like me (LOL), I like this product more as I do not need to mix with water first, I just need to throw the clay sstraight into the pond and it also take a much shorter time for the water to turn clear as compared to both Refresh and Kusuri Clay.

Daniel,

Before competition eh? Thats actually a very good idea, I take a note on that. Thanks for the suggestion.

As for the Onitaiji is it cheaper than Refresh powder?

Hi Deen,

From the recommended usage per week, I think Onitaiji is definitely cheaper than Refresh. Apprecaite all the sifus out there can add more comments on these 3 products - Kusuri Clay, Refresh & Onitaiji..
