Good day Koicilla , Hi on the Pectoral fins for kohaku were deemed as defect many years back . Like those Kuchibeni ( patch of beni on the nose area ) , they were not the prefered Kohaku . Similarly most of these Kohakus with such spots years back were culled before they even reach 4 inches in length in top farms in Japan . These were preferences many years back and of course a few survive the culling exercises and survive till today , with some even winning trophies in some major shows in Japan . The Airinkai Grand Champion 2007 is one good example . She's got the shoulder beni that stretch all the way down to her tummy and hi on the left pectoral fin as well , but her beautiful bodyline and strong beni puts her above many competitors . Hi on the pectoral fin do not constitute a kohaku to have better beni . Most would naturally prefer to have a clean cut pectoral fin for Kohaku . I have a few of the kohaku that have hi on the pectoral fin though , but feel that the trend had move more realistic to a fish bodyline and general appearance more than just spotting a fish's defect on pattern . Hope this helps ... ( Without prejudice against anybody's fish ... ) Cheers David
