Planning a trip to Niigata, need advise

Hi all,
I am going to Tokyo soon and I wish to plan a small trip to Niigata for 2 days but I have no idea how to do go about doing it. I know there won't be enough time to visit all breeders but I am targeting Danichi and Matsunosuke at the minimum. My questions are below and I hope the experienced guys like Mohan, Hwong et all who have done that can give some advice.
1. Do they welcome visitor and direct buyer?
2. Do I need to make appointment with them beforehand?
3. How to get around in Niigata? Rent a car?
4. How do I ship the fish home if I buy some? Can use the local dealers to handle the shipment?
5. What I shouldn't miss in this trip?
6. What is the best way to get to Niigata from Tokyo?
