Hi Yotti,

It is nice to see you posting your beautiful koi here again for comments.
In my opinion, I think this Rose Symbol off-spring Sandan Kohaku has an excellent body conformation
with good even thick Hi. I like the 3 simple & similar sizes block Hi pattern which are bold and well placed.
The Hi on the soon to be 'chubby face' head has avoided the eyes and it has also ended with a charming
pattern at the nose. It seems to me that the eyes are not balance? Am I correct, or could this be dued to the
angle of the photo shot?

Also, I think the Hi in the Dorsal fin is still regarded as a demerit point in judging. Hopefully, it will recede back
into the body Hi in future.
Lastly, from the photo, I can't determine the quality of the Shiroji. Anyway, with your good husbandry koi keeping skill,
you could quite easily 'polish up' the shiroji if needed to enchance the contrasting snow-white skin against the thick Hi.
Thank you for sharing.

Best Regards,
Thiam Hwa

Hi Yotti,

ROse symbol, Good parentage. Thiam wah has said most of it. He has sharp eyes.Sly Fish eyes like those of arowana has independent movements so I think it cud be same for kois, I m not sure.

I will not worry too much about Hi on the Dorsal fin. However, if the Hi is on the leading ray of the dorsal, then it is a major demerit at this size. Judging is more forgiving when the koi is above 80cm.
This koi has thick and even Hi, sharp kiwa but the Shiroji looks stressed. Some kois have good shiroji while in their pond but are easily stressed and dont do well in shows. In Judging, the quality and lustre must impress. This koi have a strong body shape and will have good girth, but may not have the length above 80cm. This koi has a very safe and balanced pattern but lacks the wow factor. If you intend to show in the very competitive size range of 65 ~ 75cm, it will do well if you can maintain a very good shiroji on show day and there are no stroger pattern kois.

As always, the challenge is to maintain the koi and not develop any defects like deformed pectoral fins etc.

These are my 2 cents....Laugh

Lots of potential. Very nice body conformation for now and the future growth prospects. Once the shiroji finish catches up with the Beni she should do well in a show imho. It is just a waiting game for the sashi to recede a bit and the shiro to finish polishing.

Conformation is very thick. Some might say the pattern is boring but quality and conformation makes up for it. Beni quality deep, thick and consistant. Shiroji is clean and bright. Beni on the dorsal is no problem a very small demerit when it comes to judging. Overall very nice Kohaku. I take it is from the same lines as Richard Tan's Kohaku from the All-Japan.
