Sakura Offspring Tosai Can't Post

Fortunately, I got the tosai offspring of Sakura this season.

Sakura got All Japan Grand Champion 2007 from Dainichi. Mine is at the middle which is the best (I think). I got from local dealer in Bangkok. He selected 200 pcs since last October.

Your comment is more than welcome!

Cheers,

Wah !!! For tosai at US$2000 plus, this is almost auction price in Japan for top tosai fish from top farm. I hope they guarantee that these will be female. So, BKK must have duties and VAT during importation... for the cost to be at that level.

the red is beautifull, the black will come and add to the beauty of the fish , however red at the head is scattered, on a scale of 10 this fish can be at 7. for US $2100. i pass.

20 cm. The price was high because I think she (hopefully) is the best of the batch of 200.

Tao,
You are always very lucky. Wink
I presume they are the top 3 of the batch? what differentiate the showa on the right to the one you choose? skin quality or the body structure?

IMHO, the one on the right looks sharper kiwa, Sumi is comparatively big patch and probably thinner tail tube? That's all I can see from the photo. Maybe I am wrong. Blush

Hi Tao Bkk,
You always mesmerise us with your beautiful kois,
The sumi & hi quality seems to be better in the koi to the right.
But I think the beauty of your koi depends on how the sumi develops-particularly
on the head-IF A BEAUTIFUL MENWARE APPEARS you should be luckly.
As one breeder said we should pray hard.
As an ardent showa fan , I wish you will keep us updated.
I to like to keep some of the champion babies & am trying to get a Sakura tosai soon to
add to my Maruyama collection.

The one I chose has the best body confirmation and higher possibility to be female. The right one is male.

I agree with you Mohan. It's depended on the sumi development. That is why I like showa "Mystery Koi".

Tao,
Thks for sharing. Your tosai in the middle has a pattern resembling Kato-San's famous inazuma showa. Cant go very wrong with that except to wait for her to grow...

Hi Tao BKK

As stated earlier, I tried to bid for the Sakura tosais but only managed to get one (JK5).
www.fishauction.blogspot.com

I notice that JK1 and JK3 were good. JK1 looks like the mother but was afraid that the sumi will over shadow the Hi plate. JK3 has a big head and has a 3 stepped Kohaku pattern. Only drawback is the thin tale tube.

JK5 is a furnished koi and it is good for show. My good friend Poh Chai got it from me and he is entering it for the 1ST Asian Show.

I missed JK3. My offer to buy it at a higher price was rejected. Anyway we had a little drama!

jk3.....................................................................................................................jk5

Any comments pls.

Re: [Mohan Ghandi] Sakura Offspring Tosai [In reply to] Can't Post

I watched the auction. The pricing on No 3 and 5 are a bargain - moreover, these are guaranteed female. Even non-guaranteed tosai from lesser showa breeder (general graded ones) are already asking close to that. And these are prize winning offsprings.

I also went to the farm to see the kois before the auction ended. And JK did pick the best of the few hundreds that he has brought in for this auction so you people did get a good deal. I didn't bid as I just bought one of JK dainici nissai - the lot still in japan - was supposed to have come in but think was delayed...

Nice kois - both of these... and interesting to see how they will develop. Hope the owners will post and update progress....

Re: [Mohan Ghandi] Sakura Offspring Tosai [In reply to] Can't Post

From my point of view, I think I prefer JK3 than JK5. As per my preference, I like koi to be develop in the future. JK5 is good for show as u said. The head shape of JK3 is better than JK5. For the fin, the right fin of JK5 may not look good in the future. From my experience, the main bone structure of the fin (I mean the fore one) should run from the body to the end. This one run not to the end which may lead to deformation of it. Also, the tail tube, agree from what you said.

hi, mohan, i may say something that you do not like to hear, the one on left is out of picture, too many black spot that will not fade . the one on the right is a little better, there is no even white on the head. however both have good red and good black. for the long future? may be but not from 3,4 years. I pass.

Re: [needucho] Sakura Offspring Tosai [In reply to] Can't Post

I think No 3 is a more interesting fish. (one on left). The sumis are ok and usually with showa tosai as well as shiro - there is a certain risk but the arrangement of the bulk of the sumis which form the pattern is nice. When this fish is beyond 70cm and above, these sumis will spread out nicely and the white after the first dan of hi will show more. Overall, this is the kind of fish which is worth the risk and definitely the more interesting fish when compared to No 5.

To Tao, what do you mean by the fore fin going all the way to the back - can you please elaborate as I was trying to figure that one out ?? You are right about the left fin for fish no 5 (right for us)... when it is big, it is not very well balanced.

Hi all,

I'm the one who got the JK3 Blush...... She is now in my small little 20tons pond together with another 20 kois Crazy...... There will be a time where by I'll need to do somethings about it Frown...... However, until now she is still well taken care of (In fact the third one hungry for the food dispite of the smallest in size Angelic)......

As for JK3 and JK5, I chose JK3 of the fact that she is bigger in size and cheaper in price Smile...... I really had not much time to think of the good and bad points for both fishes at that time cause after busy for some others things, I have got not much time left, so have to really go by instinct ..... But after seeing all the forum I can only said so far so good Smile....

Cheer,
weetin

*** Will post the photo to keep you all update the growth of JK3...

Hi there,

I am extremely pleased to note that Tao Bkk’s thread on Sakura tosai had created a lot of interest.

Tao Bkk
In fact, the first thing I did after looking at JK5 was to send an sms to the dealer regarding the missing motoguru. But the motoguru can appear sometimes – very unlikely.Regarding the description of the fin, I must confess that I learned something new. I agree with you that the chances of fins getting spoile dare higher if the main bone structure is not all the way. I feel my R.Kohaku Tosai fits your description - Am I right?

Water
Yes, the price for a champion bloodline tosai is extremely cheap . When. I bid for the Maruyama champion bloodline Tosai, I remember paying through the nose – several times higher!. Many said it is insipid and absurd to do that.

At least you got the chance to see the tosais. We are bidding after viewing the pixs – big gamble!.

Weetin
We are going down for the Asian show and will be in Singapore from Thursday to Sunday. Hope to meet you guys. It will be great if we can view the little tosai. Congrats and good luck again – hope to see its development.

Needucho
You maybe right but IMHO, we can only predict the development by looking at the mother- since the mother’s sumi are good, it is unlikely that will happen.

Hi Weetin,
Hope to meet you as well.
Lim poh chai & myself are sharing a tank.We hope to enter about 8 (lucky number) kois.
I am not entering kois which won in our recent show(except for 2 ogons) due to the fear as to whether
it can take further STRESS. What are your plans for the show?
AS i am a showa fan,I will try to bring home a Sakura offspring from JK. Has he some good ones left?
Good Luck to you at the show.

JK still has a pond full of the sakura offsprings. He only picked a few for the auction. When I was there, I still see some very good pattern and body shaped ones. But not sure if they are male of female and you will need to take the risk and buy a few.

Yes, JK still have a pond of Sakura offspring, but didn't have time to take a close look on them.... So I thinks you should be able to get some good showa out of that Wink.....
As for the koi showa, this time I'll be entering a 65bu sansai Musashi Shiro offspring, came in 1st in the last young koi show (60bu shiro), the others two will be a 35bu Yamato and 45bu doitsu chagoi. All will be handle by NKFBlush.....
Hope to meet up with you there....

Cheer,
