Sakura Tosai Can't Post

Hi there ,

As I promised you sometimes back, here is a pix of the Tosai which I purchased during my trip to Singapore in connection with the 1st Asia Koi Show. In a pond full of Sakura Tosais I managed to pick this with the help of. Poh Chai, my sons and the helpful dealer.

It was measured 25cm then. When delivered to my place it was 35cm. Today it is 38cm. It is confirmed female.

The one I obtained at the auction was taken by good friend Poh Chai. Incidentally, it also obtained a prize at the Asia Show.

I am also posting a pix of the mother which obtained Grand Champion at the 2007 Japan Show. As usual what I ask for nothing but your comments.

Abang Mohan ,

This showa has got the mirror image of the mother fish . Very very very good bodyline for this Showa of yours .
Very good choice . No mistake . Sumi will surface definitely . Only a matter of time .

Hi Jacky,

Thanks for your comments. It is taking good shape – this is merely due to the fact that it is a ferocious eater.

You are most welcome – please give me a call as to when you are coming over – we can have another late evening like the previous one.

Abang Soon,

Pleased to note that you and the Singapore koi kakis are keeping the forum alive and kicking while our local counterparts seems to be in ‘hibernation’.

Yes, it is indeed a good Tosai – something tells me, if everything is normal, this will turn out to be a fascinating Showa – my son also told me when I was posting the pix, that it resembles its mother – great man thinks alike.

Very nice. This one will be happily slow to finish, making you wait until it reaches Jumbo before the sumi is ready for show. A very good result to look forward toCool. I like the body lines very much. Good conformation far better than many showa offer, and the strongly balanced pattern will be right up my alley when the time comes. Good eye

Wow. you took a better picture of this koi. IMHO, the sumi pattern on the head is going to be interesting. When the sumi thickens and keeps (i am hoping) on its body, it is going to be a beautiful one. The lacking of Hi on the body is compensated by the well placed sumi. If this koi is a "she", it is going to be a potential probably in 2 to 3 years time. Keep us posted on its development. BTW, it is for sale ?

Hi Weetin,

Good development on the showa... looks like you've been feeding it very2 well, as it is conforming nicely. The menware has also started to show up nicely. Motoguro will either probably develop/recede for the fins when it grows older. Good choice...WinkSmile

Re: [Koikraze] Sakura Tosai [In reply to] Can't Post

Good question koikraze WinkWink This my answer to you guysTongueTongue

In recent years, there are a number of showa without white on the head winning top spot in japan koi show. It is a trend that you do not need 3 colours on the head of the showa to win top spot in japan koi show. What you should consider is the true characteristic of a good showa.SmileSmile

That is 1 good body structure, 2 good shine, 3 the hi plate must be even from head to tail, 4 kiwa and sashi must be good, 5 placement of sumi at the shoulder & tail, 6 placement of sumi on the both side of the middle body section, 7 the best part of the tail better have hi & sumi.SlySly

I will post up some of the showas that won good prizes soon.CoolCool
So you guys can see why it won without 3 colours on the head.................big prizes , best in size and some champions , most of them over 70cm up.TongueTongue
