Swimming Algae Can't Post

I'm having an algae attack in my pond. In the day, there are a lot of floating algae in the pond. At night, the algae all seems to be disappeared into the filter.

I have put a jap mat in my mech chamber. Guess what, it looks like this in just one day and I have to wash the jap mat everyday.

Any idea if I put some sucker fish in the pond will help? I don't really want to add any chemical, or shade the pond.

Please help.

Re: [patrick123] Swimming Algae [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi, Patrick

After the algae disppears into the filter from the pond, does it come back to the pond on the next day? If it doesn't , I think it is alright to have algae on the Jap mat for some time. I use to have algae on my Jap mat most of the time but it doesn't do any harm at all and I wash it only when I clean my filter - in fact it may reduce the nitrate level if I am not wrong.Sly

    Koifun,

I believe what happens is that when the sun comes up, the string algae starts to grow longer and unable to clink on to the existing algae, they start to break off and float around in the water.

I have just introduced 3 sucker fish into the pond. Will monitor and see if this improves the situation.

    Thanks,
    Patrick
