Hi Koinutx If you look at Kodama's book' kokugyo ' he talks about DEEP RED THICK HI when he describes showa. By the way , where did you obtained the info- I am interested in learning. In this connection ,I would like to state that my 75 cm Dainachi showa only managed a 2nd prize at the recent Malaysia Show. Inter alia, the hi was not bright as before-one of the recently appointed Malaysian judges had the same opinion about the hi plate.. It obtained a 1st prize at the 65cm category at the SPKC Young Koi show.. At that time the hi was very bright & further more the competition was intense.. At the recent Malaysia Show ,the competition was not so severe & yet it did not do well. IMHO bright thick hi coupled with lacquer like sumi is vital for a top class showa. The classic example is Katosan's Inasuma Showa .The other Grand Champion Showas tell the same story-Maruyama Showa & Sakura. Hi Snowy, I am sure you do not want me to post the pixs of these infamous showas-IT MUST BE ENGRAVED IN THE MIRROW OF ANY KOI KICHIS' HEART. Hello Mohantaro San, Thought I would meet you at JK Koi centre but you didn't turn up. Saw your INAZUMA Kohaku and my recent purchase, Marutan Sanke, from Asia Koi Show in the same pond. I have also seen one offspring of Katosan's Inazuma Showa belong to one hobbyist name Andrew but he refused to sell his prized possession. Again, are you selling your Inazuma Kohaku? It is Mohataro San Inazuma kohaku engraved in the centre of my heart, not the infamous Showa from Kato San. Cheers...
