Hi Dr Teh,

What a pity Unsure. She was a very impressive specimen of a kohaku with an awesome body. Guess I can only pick up an offspring of hers through a local dealer now.

Please post a pic of your little Miss Universe when you are ready... would like to see if she carries her mama's genes well Smile.

Cheers,
Dennis

In Reply To

Hi Mohan,

I have given my opinion while looking at the koi with you in Japan. You are right in that this is a good quality koi with good skin, shiroji and beni. The tail tube is thick. My reservations are, as I have opined while in Japan, is that the hi pattern is a bit too narrow and the head size suggests that she won't be a big fish; at least not in my pond. You have a better chance in your big pond. I normally try to imagine when the koi puts on girth and opens up during which case the "narrowness" of the hi may be accentuated. Since pattern is important to you, I must say you have made a reasonable choice. Again I must add that I have made many wrong judgements many times and I will be glad for you if I am wrong again. Whatever it is I am sure you will enjoy this koi in the years to come.

Cheers, dtbh

Hi Dr Teh,

Thanks for your inputWink.

When I first saw the Inasuma Kohaku, I had two reservations, but I must say I was fully satisfied with the feedbacks on both aspects before I decided to purchase it.

Head hi too narrow

Two persons including Senior Sakai confirmed that the hi was sufficient & it will not be a problem when the koi gets bigger..

Whether it will grow big

When I built my big pond my aim was to keep jumbo kois. Having gone all the way to the homeland of the kois, obviously I do not want to buy a Kohaku which has no potential of growing big. The bone structure, body shape, thick tail tube and most of all the parent koi suggested that this will be a big koi.

Of course, compared to the kois short-listed, this was smaller Unsure & this was disturbing me but later I gathered that the parent was a different pair .

Further, I told Kintaro-san that I was looking for a big koi.If this cannot grow big, I asked him to recommend another. He was affirmative - and I trusted him. Of course, more importantly, I had my opinion and it was corroborated by these two gentlemen. Why not give it a try!WinkSmile

KoiAku, Aiseyman, Appointing me an agent? No problem. In fact the more people the better. Why? Then I can behave like a big buyer lah!Laugh But sharing transport will be a problem. 1 Koi 1 Box. Unless the Kois are smaller;30+~40+cm.

Mohan, Koi Kit , the last few days, my broadband at home behaving worst than dial-up. I gave up after posting the Dainichi kagura kohaku. Will try again when the line improves.

Hi Mohan,
I have read the earlier posting but it has somehow been misplaced
in my brain. I am glad you have bought it and will definately be at
Luke's place to view it.
Hwong, please keep the pictures rolling. It is so entertaining and meaningful
coming from fellow koi hobbyists adventure rather than staring at all those
pretty pictures in the commercial magazines.
Many Thanks,
ThiamHwa

Hi guys,

Sangar,Tiamhwa,Ravi, Dechong,Larz.koi@kit & all others,thanks for your inputWink.

From the pm & phonecalls I gather, you like the beautiful koisBlush. What about posting your comments whether good or bad?

These comments (APPRECIATION) on the kois will give the contributors the impetus to post more pixs & comments otherwise they will feel like talking to deaf persons .Pls start the ball rolling. From the record, one can visualize that the number is encouraging BUT the percentage of commentators are very discouraging. CAN WE HEAR FROM YOU??????

LET US HAVE FUN- LET US HEAR FROM YOU ALL WinkSmile!

Dear Scuba, It was a fun trip. I say, its not that U cant afford such kois but your priorities does not have kois high on the list yet.Wink

The Kois from Sakai will be back next Friday. But the kois wont go to just one place. Majority of them will be at Dr TEh's. The kois from Nigata will be at a later date propbably to Luke's place. Sure you are welcomed. Let see what you have to bring. Satay, Cendol will be nice...Sly

Here are more pics. but will not have the captions.. too lazy to do that..

The above kois caught our attention all morning and we were" I like this one, that one" but alas they were not for sale. All of them went to a grow out pond up the mountainsTongue

This beautiful Sansai kohaku wud be the ideal candidate to win the adult champion at our local koi show. It has the excellent Shiroji, Thick Hi (KAU KAU!!) and lustre. However, it will not be a Jumbo bcos of its short body but absolutely gorgeous. Many were tempted but Doc kept us in check. "Ehh.... wont be a big koi..." If not for Doc and Hong, we wud have bled to death at Sakai.SmileSmile

You wont find kois with this quality atthe local dealers unless you ordered it. The Hi is really thick, sharp kiwa and shashi that will be razor sharp. The Mother is a real block of koi! This nisai kohaku is a tategoi and will stay in Japan for another year.

The koi below has Shiroji light you wont believe! The only reason there were no takers is the pattern and short body
