Very nice looking kois, especially the kohaku. However, I think your "koromo"might be a "goshiki".

The Koromo (or Goshiki) is 2,000 pesos; Kohaku is 3,000 pesos; Bekko is cheap only 1,000 pesos. when converted to us$ its about $40; $60 & $20 respectively. Smile

Are you sure my koromo is a goshiki? From what I have check with goshiki, it doesn't look like my koi. Could others please check if this is a koromo or goshiki?

I could be wrong, butwhen I see asagi-like scales outside the red areas, I consider it a goshiki.

Sometimes pictures are deceiving. To cite and example of a photo I took of my golden tail Crossback Arowana (18 inches). The completely shiny and pinkish body appeared golden brown in the picture.

Cheers.

Hi! Koi kakis,

You all paid so much attention on the top koi, seems no one notice something about the Shiro Bekko = It's a Hikarimono (silvery)type! Wink
Therefore is called Gin Bekko.

BTW - the Goshiki or Koromo is still too young to know. Let see how it turns out, especially for the matsuba on the base white.

If alot more come out on base white = Goshiki.
If stain go off on base white = Sumi Goromo.
If still like now = sorry. Somebody just paid `School Fee' to learn - never touch this. Hee! Hee! Smile

Hey! That's what koi hunting is all about - the fun of pay to learn. (or pain?)

Hi Eric:

I am still trying to learn to recognize "gin xx"(see my previous note wayyyy back). How do you judge? Did you look at the ogon-like skin? Or the "thickness" of the pectoral fins?

Thanks,

Bancherd

Hi! Bancherd,

I think the old thread you are referring to is dated 1/9/2000, titled;
`Good Kohaku vs. bad Hikarimono'. In it,I'd explained much in detail. Can applied to this thread also.

The key thing to a good Hikarimono is = strong metallic luster/shine thru' out. Clean head. A neat fukurin will be even better. Smile

Thick pectoral fins - whether Hikarimono or normal type - is good. But a young koi with too thick & wide fins = may be a male koi.

Rdgs,
Eric
