Carp pox usually appear as the water temp drops. There are no medicines on the shelf anywhere in the world terminate carp pox. If you think about chicken pox in humans, we get the blotches oin your skin and we get a scar if we scrath them, however after some time (6 weeks I think) they go away. This is almost the same with koi, however carp pox is not known to be contagious as it's a viral desiese. You can help get the waxy lumps down by heating the water gradually to 80 - 85 F. Pox usually starts on the fins and tails and can make it look like fin rot to start with. Most of the koi I know have got over carp pox naturally within 6 months, out of the 10 koi with carp pox that I know of (not mine) only 1 has died, but this may have been due to other reasons. Pox develops more in stressed koi. It can develop overnight. Just be patient, keep the water as clean as possible and wait....... If you do want to quarentine him for the winter do not quarentine him alone as this bring further stress, koi like most other fish like to have othe koi around them. Stuart
