Hi Kit,

I add my areation only in the last channel where the pump take the water back to my pond. Yes my filter is up and down system.

Yotti's Kinkirin Chagoi.

Hi Yot,

Another beautiful Chagoi for our enjoyment, Thank you.

This Chagoi has a good body conformation with even colour from head to tail plus a beautiful net pattern.
I think if this Chagoi hit the 1 metre mark in your 12 ton pond, you will probably be the first hobbyist in the world
to have achieve that impossible dream.WinkWink.

I also remembered that you have also breed your own koi locally using top grade imported Japanese parent koi.
In fact, you have also entered your own breeding koi for competitions which was held in Thailand. Any success so
far?

As you know, here in the Forum, PH8 and Mohan has a very stimulating discussion regarding the quality of local breed
koi as compared with Japanese koi. I think you are probably one of those few hardcore hobbyist who had already been
through all these challenges. Is it possible for you to share with us photos of your own breeding koi here so that we
may have a better understanding of what quality to expect.

I knew that you have posted a couple of the koi here which you have planned to enter them for competition in
the past few years but I just cannot seem to find it again for viewing. I am sure those koi are probably in their 60BU
by now and it would be wonderful if you could post them here for our learning. Thank you.

Best Regards,
Thiam Hwa

Hi Thiamhwa,

Thank you for your comment. I don't really know that I can share much on my breeding experience because I just a hobbiest and my english isn't very good. Anyway I have photo of my own bred kohaku and hope it help more or less. So far this koi is with my friend and she didn't really success in the competition.

Oh by the way the impossible dream which you mention, I just woke up last month. I have three Karashi in my pond. One male 87cms and two female 80cms, 1meter long. They are all live in my small pond. Photo show female when she was 97cms.

Thanks
Yot

Hi Yot, I have posted your photos inline for better viewing. Thank you. Thiam Hwa

To be honest, I never hope that she can grow this big. I'm a lucky one.

Please feel free to comment once again for both my own bred kohaku and Konishi karashi koi.

Thank you

Yot

Hi Yotti,

Very nice home-bred effort there. Last third is a little weak but it has nice balanced pattern, good shiroji and very good girth, perhaps even a little too much for this size. Is it 57cm? Nisai? Is it still growing well? Your great success in raising huge koi within the confines of a 12 tonne pond is a huge inspiration to all hobbyists who have space and/or budget constraints.

Cheers,
Paul

Yot Smile

Some of the most wonderful art of Kois is found in your small world .SmileSmile 12 tonnes of beautiful water was all they ever needed to grow in harmony and grace . Gingrin Chagoi , Sakai Shusui , Onishi Karashi were all beautifully conditioned and nutured .SmileSmile

Believed you have found a good spot for your pond that's fully shaded and away from the sun , just to mantain these neat and clean look of these beauties of yours . Very good keeper .SlySly

It would highly enlighten us on your Work of Art , If you don't mind showing us a photo of your pond . SmileSmile

Good Pond ( regardless of size ) , Good water and Good Keeper will bring out Good Kois .SlySly

Hi Yot,

No problem with your English language, we understand you perfectly in this koi
hobby Wink.

I have taken the opportunity to copy and re-post a picture of the same koi taken
in May 2007 for viewing. This kohaku was measured at 23cm then. May I know
what is the estimated current size of the koi now? I am sure if the koi is under your
care, that would have been a different koi all together. As is it now, I think the koi
is developing a small pot-belly and the tail tube is a little bit weak. By the way,
do you provide very strong water current in your pond to maintain the good body
shape from your earlier posted koi?

I have tried to composed the 3 photos together for posting and easy comparison
but am not successful. Hopefully, someone here with the proper software may be
able to help out here. Thank you.

By the way, do you still have your own bred Kinrin Kohaku? I like this koi the most
among the other 3 koi which you have posted last year.

Yot, I am with David Soon's comments regarding your excellent koi keeping skills
and top class water management. I just cannot imagine growing a koi to 1m in a
12 ton pond. Just amazing! Can't wait to see your pond and learn from you the
secrets to raising super jumbo koi in a small pond LaughSlyCool.

Hopefully, the current political situation in your country may change for the better
soon or else I may have to postpone the trip to next year. Hopefully not, fingers
crossed.

Best Regards,
Thiam Hwa

Hi Yot,

Very good effort in keeping your Konisi Karashi to 1 metre in length. I also have 1 about 87cm long keep in my 4ton indoor pond. The colouration of karashi should be mustard (dark yellow). My karashi used to look like yours (very pale in yellow) and i was advised to "sun" it. So I actually opened 2 windows in my roof for sunlight to pass through and now it is close to the mustard colour. From then, i truly belive that to bring out the colour and shine of koi, sunlight is definitely a must. Of course the most important is still the gene of the koi.

cheers

YottiLaugh,

One day, once i've equipped my self with the Ninja art of stealth, i will drop by your house and randsack all of your koi, especially this kohaku. Just look at the body mass.Tongue This koi can easily be passed off as coming direct from Japan. Good job in taking good care of this koi...
