Skeletor,

What a spectacular red spot on the head.. How big is the koi anyway? I would not mind if she is eligible for competition or not as long as she looks pretty good to me.

She is a bit yellowish I observed. The rest of them, let the expert advise. :)

Nice koi!!

Rgds.

Hi! Koi friend,

Yes, this koi can be entered for competition. No ground for rejecting it.
Indeed it is very rare to come across a heart shape tancho. Laugh

But during judging, rare heart shape tancho is not the 1st. consideration. Crazy
The 1st. is the body shape, 2nd. - quality of the base shiro & the thickness of the tancho Hi.
If 2 koi are of nearly same standard - then the last will be consideration for the heart tancho as hard to comes by.

As per this attached photo, this koi has problem with the shiro base. If there is another normal tancho entry, one with the same quality/shape, BUT better shiro base - then this koi will be place after. Blush

Hope I have explained clearly for all. Sly

Is this your koi? If the heart shape has not been artificially doctored, then gee.... this is one heck of an unusual shape for a tancho. I really wouldn't mind having it even if the shiro at the head and fins aren't fantastic.

Come to think of it, if the shiro was perfect and it had that heart shape so perfect and center on the head, it would have been very widely photographed and on lots of magazine covers. Wink

... still, a very nice fish.

Wow, a heart-shaped tancho! Rather unusual! I hope I am not offending anyone but it sure looks a little artificial as the shape is almost symmetrical. I have seen a TV programme that shows the koi farmers actually shape the pattern of the kois according to their customers' requirement. They can even carved the chinese word for 'prosperity' on the red patterns.

I wouldn't mind owning one of these despite some imperfections.

    Wow! A cool price!

I have a yamabuki ogon with a nice chinese caligraphy on his head. It is 100% nature and not carved on. He is also very active and very good at catching the food during feeding. I just hope that one day it may also fetch a good price.

    Any way thanks !Sly

    Good night!
