Re: [needucho] my new showa [In reply to] Can't Post

you bought it over the net eh? i'm trying to bid for a sakai showa jumbo tosai myself, my dealer's in japan now. bidding commences on the 16th of this month. attached is a picture of her, any comments is appreciated.

i understand that it is not important, the reason i asked from which breeder your showa came from is because certain bloodlines used by a koi farm has different way of developing. eg sakai fishes grow very fast in the first few years and their color depth increases only as they grow they're older. however, this is a not true statement as sakai & the other breeders for that matter keep tweaking/improving their bloodlines. but from what i read in some koi literature, kois can only develop one thing at a time, meaning if you focus on growing it, it would mean that you have to forego the color & vice versa.

but overall i think she looks pretty Smile. body structure is ok. she lacks beni after the dorsal fin (caudal penduncle) but i believe the sumi marking will make up for it. her beni is quite intense. shiroji is lovely, good skin quality. motoguro is there. a lot of merits.

But what I like most about her is that she has all the three colors on her head; a bit of red, white & black. Let me quote what Hayamasa Ikeda (a very well known Japanese ZNA Judge) said. "A showa must have a face, all three colors must be present on the head with even distribution, not too much red, white or black". Seems like she passed the test.

USD110? 14.5"? I'd say its a steal.I envy you. but thats only me.

both look very good deen, in 1, 2 years now be outstanding. but watch out, $ is very very high on these type. i have one similar, the red and black when first bought look nothing special, but latter red and black become intense, very beautifull. the one that i show you it's pretty much finished, done, nothing in the future, but the other two you show me, it have future, at 14" you do not worry a lot on changing down side. it can only better.
