odd koi....what type? Can't Post

hey all,

I post on some other koi sites, but this one looked unique. Others around the world have commented on what type of fish this is. I think it's just a mutt, but a unique one at that. Here it is at 5", 8", and 12 inches long. This growth has occurred within the last year.

Is it worth keeping to grow out? Is it worth showing in any class?

Thanks!
E

At 5 and 8 inches respectively.....

Think this fish has no real classification that it can fit into...more to kawarigoi. Definitely not kikokuryu as they are metallic doitsu. Yours is a scaled fish.

actually, I meant to say kawaragoi....by bad. I have a kikokuryu as well. Would you keep it and grow it out for this catch-all class, or would you let someone else have it?

it looks like a gin matsuba .. not 100% sure, but if you look at the tale you can see clearly that it has a pinecone pattern .. not the typical scalation of a matsuba if it is one

Cheers

the pinecone pattern doesn't extend to the whole koi....unless it will in the future as it grows and the scales stretch....

where is the "gin" on the scales?

hi coolkoi25,

I have several kois that are objectively worthless, but subjectively priceless.

its really how you see it that will determine whether to keep it or not

enjoy your koi

Ethan, Ethan, Ethan...
You can shop this little personal favorite all around the world if you want to, but it will always be just another cute pet in the pond no matter where you ask. AKCA and ZNA certified judges have all told you the same thing, so why do you keep beating your head against the wall??? It is cute and you like it. It makes you smile when you go out to the pondSmile. Let that be enough for youWink.

ah! You found me, damn you! Wink

I am a bit obsessed by it, but that's just because of some of the good comments and interesting comments I have received about it. In addition, I just haven't seen anything like it anywhere on the net, and a lot of other people haven't either.

just wait till I sell it and make a small fortune!
(kidding of course!)

good to see you!

Ethan
