underwater pics of kois Can't Post

Here are some pics of my koi taken with a waterproof camera to share with you.

(Left)One of my favourites; 8+yrs old Hoshikin Male. His right eyeball rotated inwards 3 years ago. He has very white skin and an interesting pattern. The Hi is started to go down at the shoulder.
(Right) Another Hoshikin; 4 yrs old female. Growing but has not bulk up. Has poor sahsi and kiwa at the tail section. I was hoping that the White skin will grow over them but doesnt look like it will happen.

(front) Big Rose Sanke 2.5yrs -69.5cm! This is Sakai Hiroshima new sanke line ; pairing of Big Rose Kohaku with a Wakashoryu Sanke male. This koi has the whitest of skin and the Hi is in between Red and Orange which I like very much. When I took delivery of this sanke at Nisai it was 61cm and all the sumi has disappeared except for the lottle at the tail. As you can see, sumi are appearing near the head, shoulder, belly.. I believe this koi will grow very long but I am not sure if she will grow wide as the Shoulder height does not seem to be high.

The Kohaku in the left foreground is the most satisfying purchase to date. From Sakai's Tsuke Tsuke line, bought at nisai, she is 5years old and 70 cm now. A very slow grower but her quality has improved. She broke her tail during one of the koi show 1 year ago and may never regrow properly. I had the tail recut recently to promote growth.

This is a aka yonsai ( 3yrs+) Omosako Shiro-65cm. She has very porcelain white skin and laquer balck sumi.

Hi HWONG,

you have some great collection of kohaku, sanke and shiro, especially the one with broken tail, feel very sorry and sad to hear that, hope the tail will grow back fully and give her back the perfect look.

she has great body volume, deep Hi with very nice two step pattern which i like, sashi and kiwa is good, snow white shiroji. to me this is a fantastic fish to own.

Cheers...

Hi Hwong!

great kois.

I really prefer to view kois from the top view. I think they are more beautiful that way.

side view like the picture of your shiro utsuri doesn't do justice at all.

Just my two cents.

Hi all, Thks for the comments. The photos were taken for fun but at the same time, I can look at their side profile to look at things like Shoulder and tail height, the belly, gradient of shoulder etc. things that you cannot see from the top without catching and causing them great stress.
The camera belongs to my daugther and I have to wait for another 8 months when she return for her holdays.Sly

Hi HWONG,

I am amazed at the quality of the underwater shots of your koi. They truly give a different angle and perspective into koi keeping. Smile

Also I think that is a great way to keep check on our lovely 'babies' on a regular basis to ensure we know that they are fine and in the pink of health. Most of the time we cant really realise something is wrong until too late when ulcers can be seen from above water.

Would you mind telling us how you took those pictures ( especially without any bubbles and such calm water ) and whether you have to go underwater to take those shots? What camera model and indication of costs?Wink

BTW I fully agree with J.J. and andyfoo's comments on your lovely Sakai Tsuke2 Kohaku. CoolIt is so sad that she broke her tail bone during a show. I certainly hope that there is a possibility of a mend in the tail fine bone in time to come. Do keep us informed of progress.

Cheers.
