~I need tips on my pregnant koi!~ Can't Post
I'm new, i had kois for a very long time, but i never saw my fishes mate or their eggs. probably cauz they eaten all theirs up. But now, i have a BIG interest in kois and i need help on pregnant koi. she's been pregant for a very long time and i don't know when she will start to lay her eggs and with which one of my male kois. Can she lay them normally in my big pond? we don't have a lot of koi, just 11 and i don't think they will eat the eggs in time before i start collecting the eggs from their normal pond.
Is it possible for me to just put the eggs in a large container of big bowl?
When will my pregnant koi lay her eggs?

please, i need tips!

Must be THAT time of year. I have only two koi and a comet fish in a 20ft x 20ft x 6ft deep pond currently "under construction." They have lived quite well in the pond water for about a year.

The koi that I suspected to be female is showing signs. (How does one identify the sex of a fish?) She's only about 9 inches.

I echo the same questions posted in this thread. But also what sources do the females use to help shed the eggs? Stones or plants?

I will try to answer your questions :

Can she lay them normally in my big pond - yes , especially if you add new water and there are some substrate like water hyacint , rafia rope available in the pond

i don't know when she will start to lay her eggs - I don't know your location , in tropical countries every time koi can spawn, usually start at midnight till down

with which one of my male kois - choose the slim koi for male, its better the same type

i don't think they will eat the eggs in time before i start collecting the eggs from their normal pond. - wake up early morning then and watch them spawning SlySlySly

Is it possible for me to just put the eggs in a large container of big bowl? - yes , its easier if you put the substrate and the eggs .

how many times do they spawn a year and how long do they get pregnant for before starting to lay there eggs?

I manage my female koi spawning once in a year , male koi could be 3 - 4 times in a year.
