how do you breed koi fish in order to get a butterfly koi?

um...yes i know that. but how do u get a mommy or daddy butterfly in the first place?

do u need to breed a koi fish and a goldfish?

sorry to continue sounding like a smart ass, but, you buy 'em. You can get them online pretty easily (they make up a considerable share of the koi you'd find on eBay). If you're looking for the breeding history - it's a mix of a long-finned indonesian wild carp and a koi that turned out not to be sterile (like a gold/koi hybrid is) and it actually gives them considerable hardiness.

it will never come out if you don't have that gene in the family tree.. buying one would be the easiest option...

Dear Koi_lover101

Apparentley they are normal koi crossbread with a long finned malasion carp then the colours are fixed over time with inbreading.

Personaly i don't like them but everyone to their own aye.

When you breed them you still get a percentage of short fins, and some are in between not long but not standard.

Where are you located?? Butterfly koi are mainly what is in our pond. We have way too many young koi right now. We are thinking of trading or selling some off. They are young a year old. So send me a private email to femme_artist51@yahoo.com.
Other than trying to breed some, you can usually find some in a pond store. Are there any around you? If not go on Ebay, just you pay alot for shipping. Good luck in your search.
