Koi spawning is dependent on several things: 1) Time of year. 2) Female being ready and full of eggs. 3) Temperature. 4) Breeding Medium. 5) Conditions of the water. 6) Males that are interested. 7) Koi that are old enough (minimum 2 years), large enough and mature enough to do it. When all conditons are met, then they'll breed on their own. Unless you want to artificially do it. But this is a risk and you could wind up injuring the koi. One of our members did this (Efren Gabrielle) where he took the female and squeezed the eggs out. Then he took a couple of males and squeezed their sperm out and spread it on the eggs. You would need to contact Efren for the exact proceedure. I'm too chicken to try it. Hope this helps. Best Regards Bran A Koi Pond is never FINISHED, it's always subject to improvement. Drives the Spouse Crazy!
