It's just my opinion, but I would use water from the pond the eggs are laid in to fill the small hatchery pots. The water will green more quickly as the water already has nutrients in it to feed the algae growth and it will also minimize any potential for shock during transfer. Just make sure they are well aerated and that you replace part of the water daily to prevent ammonia build-up. BTW, how are your other frys doing??? ____________________________________________________________________ Hi, thanks for the info...and it makes sense..will do that..just wanted to make sure. As I was not prepared at all for the first spawning. First time mommie. I "did" fill the containers w/the pond water the first time...I think I lost a lot of them due to when I transfered them into the kiddie pool..I don't know. I've learned several things that I will do different next time around. I have about 30 fry's left..they have really grown, eat well and come to my finger when I put it in the water..lol. They are 7 weeks and 3 days old. Very friendly little toddlers. Thanks again for responding. Mookey
