Hairy eggs Can't Post

Hi !

My koys just laid eggs for the very first time.

All eggs seem to be growing a sort of white hair around.

Is it correct that these are unfertilised eggs?

What can I do about it?

I have six kois and no idea of how many are males or females. All of them are about 2 years old.

Of course, this is my first experience in this area.

Thanks in advance for any orientation.

Hi,
First thing you do is separate the eggs from the adult kois, or those eggs will be gone in a matter of hours. put them in an incubator or tank with plenty of oxygen.(air stone)make sure the water that you put in the new tank is free of chlorine. use dechlor for every time you change water,(only 10%or 15% of water changes.) if those eggs are fertilized, they will hatched within 4 to 7 days. just curious, where are you from and are your kois are indoor or outdoor?its kind a late for your koi to spawned.anyway if you need some more info. regarding rearing koi fry, go back to koi forum and theres a lot of koi master that ready to help you.

Hi !

Thank you, Gabriele, for your kind attention.

The reason our koi just spawned, is that here, in Brazil, is the beginning of summer.

We live in a ranch, one hour drive from São Paulo, and we have a tank that uses natural spring water, constantly changed.

We already did everything as you advised, and tomorrow will be the 4th day, so we will have our fingers crossed, and update you with any news.

Take care !!

In the U.K. the spawning season starts also in March but ends a little earlier i.e. Late July.
