Hi

My koi died a few weeks ago and a few days ago I noticed thousands of black eggs in the pond, alot of them have hatched and they resemble fish because I see a spine with 2 big black eyes and the tail is not yet formed. I am wondering how this can be as I emptied the pond after the fish died. However, where the pumps are buried inside the pond remained untouched with water in them. Are these to your opinions Koi fish or something else?

Can anyone help?

They sound like frogs eggs. Therefore you have tadpole! Congratulations!

For your information, tadpoles look this these guys below. They are quite hardy :D

Thank you so much for replying. As it happens, I took a sample to the fish store and they gave me the bad news that they were neither frogs or fish but to my horror mosquito eggs. I emptied the pond immediately, washed it thoroughly, filled it up again with clean water and put plenty of bleach in to sanitize the pond.

I will tell you that frog eggs and mosquito eggs apparantly look very similar. You were lovely to reply. Thank you Koiguyoz.
