couple days, sometimes right away, but most of the time a couple days, its good if there is alot of koi in the pond, they tend to develop "FRIENDS"

Sometimes it takes a while, each koi is different and has its own personality. Just give them some time and all will be ok. Also like lilhelper said make sure you have some other koi for it to make friends withWink

It has been like a month and a half, but my koi seem to be still very scared of me.Unimpressed

Is your water in good shape in your pond? Sometimes this will cause koi to act abnormal. Do you spend a good bit of your time by the pond? Also Sanke type koi are more jumpy than other koi and if you have many of them it will take longer. Anyways you have got to spend time with your koi, set by the pond as much as you can and talk to them to. They can hear your voice and get used to your sound. Put you hands in the water and splash the water before you feed them of take a rock and hit it one the side of the pond on another rock to call them up to eat. I did this with my koi for a long time and they responded well after a while, they linked the sound together with feeding and came running now they can just see me and make a be line for me.Sly
