How many times a year do they spawn?

Ok..today ..I went outside to give the big guys their morning chow..and here they go again! All I did was move a few plants around yesterday..as they love to tear them apart...and play with them...and I see them spawning again! This one female was just 3" so I didnt take her eggs..I left them to "mother nature"....
Some how I thought it was just in the spring..here in SC it seems like the end of April and the 1st week of May..but here they go again..I noticed that I have yet another with eggs....
